Elasid nad Tartus. 70ndatel tulid Tallinnasse. Vanaisal on elu jooksul mitmeid töid olnud.

After finishing school, he went to attend university in Moscow. He graduated from that in 1953. At some point in the 50's he met his first wife. I'm not really sure when the had their divorce because my grandpa doesn't want to talk about it. They had no children. He met my grandma in the 60's and my mom was born on December 19, 1965. Grandma also had two sons from her prvious marriage, so my grandpa became their stepfather. They lived in Tartu. In the 70's they came to Tallinn. My grandpa had many jobs during his life. The only one I know for sure is that he worked for Estonian National Television and sometimes narrated natureshows. In 1990 my grandma and grandpa moved to live at a countryside near Tartu with my grandmas aunt and I also lived there every summer. In 2003 they sold to countryhouse and came back to Tallinn.
Sadly I have no pictures to put in this blog because they're remodelling my grandpas apartment and he doesn't remember in which boz he put things away from the workers.

Probably the most interesting thing that happened to grandpa during the war, was a bombing. My grandpa was taken to a bombshelter, so nothing happened to him. But after that he went outside with friends, looking for pieces of exploded bombs. There they found a bomb that had not exploded and one of his friends decided to touch it. That made the bomb explode and my grandpas friend died.
The other war story isn't luckily with such a morbid ending. During the time in between the change of the powers and nobody knew what was going on, people went to loot the warehouses. So my grndpa was also sent to bring home something useful. His stepfather wanted alchohol and his mom wanted household goods. My grandpa found a couple of bars of soap and couple of bottles of wine and candy for himself. But just when he was leaving the warehouse came in gunmen in civilian clothes, fired a warningshot in the air and ordered everyone to put away the stolen things and leave. The gunshot startled my grandpa and he dropped the winebottles and candyboxes. At the first chance he ran back home and got only soap out of the whole ordeal.
My grandpa doesn't have any more war stories than these two, because he was sent to the country away from the war.

Harry Karro, my grandpa from my mother's side, was born on April 10, 1930. His mother Eleanore was a hairdresser and father Voldermar was a chimney sweeper. His father left the family when Harry was very small and Harry lived in Pääsküla with his mother. His younger half-brother Valdu also lived with them. My grandpa has several other half-brothers from his father's side, but he hasn't communicated with them and doesn't remember their names.
